Creating new mailboxes or lookalike domains
Overview
If you're sending outbound campaigns to more than a few hundred operators per month, we recommend using multiple domains to protect your primary domain from deliverability issues.
To support this, First Bite sets up and manages lookalike domains and mailboxes—dedicated domains and email addresses used exclusively for outbound. This keeps your core domain safe and ensures your emails land in the inbox.
A domain refers to the address used to access a website on the internet (e.g. yourcompany.com).
A lookalike domain, such as those created by First Bite, is a website address that is close to (but not exactly) your company’s domain (e.g. yourcompanymail.com)
A mailbox refers to a single outbound email address (e.g. jessica@yourcompanymail.com) hosted on a First Bite-managed lookalike domain.
We cannot add new user mailboxes to First Bite lookalike domains
To maintain strong domain reputation, First Bite limits each managed lookalike domain to a maximum of 2 mailboxes.
Once a domain is created, we cannot add additional users to it.
If you want to give a new user access to send outbound email, you’ll need to:
Request a new lookalike domain, and
Specify which users should be assigned mailboxes at the time of setup.
We do not retroactively add users to existing domains.
Create new First Bite lookalike domains
Here’s how the process works:
Email your account manager or success@firstbite.io to request a new domain and provide the names of users who need mailboxes.
First Bite will set up and manage the domain and mailboxes.
Warming takes approximately 1 month.
You’ll receive an email notification when the domain is ready for use.
Note: Each new domain and mailbox comes with a monthly cost per user and per domain, which will be added to your regular First Bite invoices.
