Requesting contacts

All about requesting contact information on First Bite.

Requesting Contacts

Overview

For foodservice contacts, First Bite finds ~10x more decision-makers than any single data source or industry-agnostic lead database.

But because there’s so much turnover in foodservice, we do not store contacts in our database because they would go stale.

Instead, you can request freshly-researched contacts for your outreach campaigns.

Our research team layers public data, various lead platform API’s, advanced web crawling, and manual motions to find the most-likely, validated decision maker contact information.

How to Request Contacts

  1. Once you’ve created your Campaign, go to the Campaigns page.
  1. In the table, click on your newly created Campaign name.
  1. Click on the Request Contacts button in the top right corner.

  1. Select the number of contacts you’re requesting per company (generally 1).

  1. Click Request Contacts at the bottom of the page.

Requesting Additional Contacts from a Campaign

If you request contacts for a campaign and later add additional Opportunities to that same campaign, you can request contacts for only the newly added Opportunities. To do this:

  1. Go to the Campaigns page > select your campaign > Click on Request Contacts in the top right corner as you normally would to request contacts.
    1. The following pop-up will then appear:

This pop-up lists all campaign Opportunities that you’ve already received contacts for.

To receive new contacts for these Opportunities, click the box to select them. Otherwise, skip these Companies.

  1. Once you’ve skipped (or chosen), the next page will list your newly added Opportunities..
    1. You can now review this list, select the number of contacts you’d like for each company, and submit your request.

Best Practice for Requesting Contacts

Optimizing Campaigns

Limit contact requests per campaign to between 100 and 400. This allows you to:

  1. Target your messaging: High contact counts indicate a lack of specificity in targeting. Niching down allows for more specific messaging which ensures a higher likelihood of response.
  1. Maintain a healthy send volume: There is a limit to how many emails you want to send per day from each email account. Too many emails leads to a reduced domain reputation which will land you in the spam folder.
  1. Iterate your campaigns: Smaller campaigns allow you to learn from each campaign and improve your outreach on the next round. Focus on improving your response rates rather than mass emailing.

Outreach is typically best with a targeted and personalized approach as opposed to mass sending.

First Bite excels at market segmentation. Take advantage of it!

Requesting Multiple Contacts per Company

When requesting contacts you have the option to choose the number of contacts you want to receive per company.

You might request more than one contact if:

  1. You’re running a highly targeted campaign on a specific company.
  1. You’re targeting larger chain companies (for example: >50 doors). This is because there are generally a higher number of decision makers.

In these cases, it would be worth requesting 2-3 contacts per company.

FAQ

Do contacts exist in the database?

A: No, because there’s so much turnover in foodservice, we do not store contacts in our database because they would go stale.

Instead, you can request freshly-researched contacts for your outreach campaigns.

Our research team layers public data, lead platform API’s, advanced web crawling, and manual motions to find the most-likely, validated decision maker contact information.

How long until contacts are returned?

You can generally expect to wait 1 business day for every 100 contacts requested. So requesting 1 contact per account of 400 accounts, expect to wait 4 business days (give or take a day depending on bandwidth).

Can’t I just use a lead database that I’m subscribed to?

Most horizontal lead databases rely on LinkedIn profiles as a foundation. Most decision-maker foodservice operators like owners, chefs, or managers do not have LinkedIn pages, especially at smaller regional chains or independents. For this reason, they often don’t exist in lead platforms.

Yes, you could use your database to find contacts at McDonald’s etc, but you’d be overlooking the vast majority of the market.

Why don’t I just look up contacts myself?

You could try! But it would be slow and expensive.

Our offshore research team is affordable, fast, and equipped with all the best public data sources, lead platform API’s, and advanced web crawling capabilities. Plus, they are well trained and experienced in manual motions to ensure the highest contact fill rate and data quality possible.

Does First Bite charge for contacts?

Unless you’re an Activate client or have remaining research credits included in your plan, we pass along our cost of $1 per returned contact. We do not make a profit on the service and aim to make our data more valuable and actionable while saving you time and money.

How are contacts returned?

As soon as contacts are validated, they are returned in the ‘Contacts’ tab in First Bite and will be visible under each associated account, deal, and campaign detail pages. We will also send you a CSV for upload into your other outreach or CRM software.
