Using Contact Credits

How contact credits are counted and processed

Overview

Requesting contacts in First Bite will use contact credits. To view a summary of your contact credits, you can visit the Contacts page > Contact Requests tab in First Bite and look in the top right corner of the page.

Here you’ll see three credit categories along with the option to buy additional contact credits. Check out this article for more on Buying Contact Credits.

The cost of 1 contact credit: $1/credit

1 contact credit is used for each valid contact with a working email address that is returned to your company.

Let’s discuss how these credits are counted and then processed.

Credits Remaining, Credits Pending, Credits Used

Each count is reflected at a company level. This is what each category is counting:

Credits Remaining

Counts the number of contact credits currently available for use in future contact requests. At the start of your subscription, this number will be pre-populated based on the credit allocation specified in your First Bite contract.

Credits Pending

Counts the number of contacts associated with outstanding contact requests submitted through First Bite. This is the number of contacts that First Bite is actively looking for on your behalf (not yet fulfilled).

Credits Used

Counts the total number of credits used for completed contact requests. This count reflects all contacts that First Bite has returned to your company.

How Credits Are Processed

Requesting Contacts

To submit a contact request, your company must have an available credit balance that matches the number of contacts you wish to request in your Credits Remaining.

For example, if you plan to request 200 contacts, you must have at least 200 credits available.

If you need more credits, you can always purchase additional credits to fulfill your request. For instance, if you want to request 220 contacts but lack sufficient credits, additional credits will be required (or you can decrease the number of contacts requested) before proceeding.

Contact Request Pending

After submitting your contact request, it will enter a pending status. The associated number of credits will be reflected in your Credits Pending. These credits are temporarily reserved while First Bite processes your request.

Using the same example, a request for 200 contacts will result in 200 credits appearing in the Credits Pending section.

Contact Request Complete

Once your request is fulfilled and contacts have been delivered, the request is marked complete. At this stage, First Bite determines how many contacts were successfully provided and moves the corresponding number of credits to your Credits Used.

If some contacts could not be fulfilled, the unused credits will be returned to your Credits Remaining balance.

For example, if only 190 contacts were found from your 200-contact request, then:

  • 190 credits will be recorded in Credits Used
  • 10 credits will be returned to Credits Remaining for future use
